Assalam u Alaikum! Respected Members of the Muslim Community of South Calgary,
We would like to inform you that the elections for the Islamic Centre of South Calgary (ICSC) Board of Directors, which were due in July 2025, have not yet been held by the Muslim Association of Calgary (MAC) due to reasons currently unknown to us.
As per the ICSC bylaws, President Haseeb Rehman and Vice President Dr. Arslan Asim have completed their two consecutive terms and have formally resigned from their positions on the board. We thank them sincerely for their remarkable service and leadership.
To ensure continued operation and community service, the board has appointed Br. Syed Hassnain Ajmal as President until the elections are held. Information about the new board of directors will be available soon on the ICSC website (www.icsouthcalgary.com).
ICSC board during the term 2023-2025 has accomplished several major milestones, including:
- Relocating the musallah from Queensland to Legacy to better serve the growing South Calgary Muslim population
- Hiring a full-time Imam
- Initiating the construction of the ICSC Masjid in Ramadan 2024
- Successfully completing the foundation work by September 2025 with $2.5 million raised
- Defining the construction roadmap for the masjid project.
The current board, under the leadership of Br. Syed Hassnain Ajmal, remains committed to serving our community and continuing the important work ahead.
