Dear South Calgary Muslim Community,

Assalam-o-Alaikum to all of you from the ICSC Board Management Committee. This is our first newsletter. We intend to publish newsletter every quarter to keep our South Community aware of development of ICSC and South Musallah, events and programs we are involved in, actions where we need your support and above all to keep you in full picture regarding our South Islamic Centre Project.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, we are all living through tough times where our daily life is challenged. ICSC is no exception as our operations (prayers, events, programs, community gathering) including the timeline of our project’s construction have been impacted. Nevertheless, we are all thankful to Allah SWT for keeping us safe and through his grace we will continue to persevere to work for our community.

In next few pages, I would like to introduce the current ICSC team and bring the community up to speed on current activities of your organization. There have also been some quite important developments that as a board we feel the whole community should have knowledge about, especially as they adversely impact our working on South Islamic Center Project. Please review section” ICSC Challenges” on page 2. We had a community engagement session with the formation of ICSC Shura’ committee on March 7th in which new and past community members were invited. We shared our current efforts, issues and seek feedback / suggestions. Alhamdulillah session was successful and Shura committee will work with ICSC on achieving its objectives.

We are looking forward to serving our community as best as we can by grace of Allah SWT.
